So much for posting regularly! Life has been very busy in our household. We have been enjoying spring and some nicer weather. E is down at the pub/restaurant we live near with his Grandma. They have been hired to plant 18 basket planters outside. Grandma has agreed to hire E as her helper. They have chosen the plants and are making a start today. They will decide whether to work down there or to come home. E rode his scooter down carrying a large orange bucket with a big grin on his face.

Yesterday E and I attended a weekly home ed drop in group in Twyford called Heroes. There are many opportunities for learning and socializing and yesterday E spend a good deal of the day outdoors with the other kids. I observed him interacting with a group of 4-5 kids his age and younger enthralled in make believe play where they were all super heroes, choosing their powers and names. E is a natural leader but is also learning to follow at times. Later he wanted to join some older boys (about 10-16yrs) who were going out to play hockey. They kindly said he could play when they were done with that game. He asked if he could watch while they played and then enjoyed chasing the balls which went out of bounds. Good to their word, several of the older boys then played with E and some of the younger lads. I enjoyed seeing the interaction across age groups that just wouldn't happen in school.

The small animal handling is a favourite of E at this group. They bring guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, rats, a dog, a cat,a snake, a lizzard and his favourite Archie the parrot. E is learning about the animals and their habitats and also how to handle them safely and gently. E also brought his pogo stick which his grandma bought him. The others enjoyed seeing who could do the most jumps with some of the adults joining in! I managed 4! A teenage boy did 178! I was proud of E for sharing.

In the evening E attended Tae Kwondo which he participates in twice a week. The whole group was there last night and so a group photo was taken. We collected his friends Chris and Anna who we car share with. Elliot also got the phone number from another friend, Aubrey, so as to arrange a play date soon.

I hope to get some photos on here soon. x K

I'm Blogging!

Welcome to my first blog! I've been meaning and wanting to do this for ages but as with other technology such as mobile phones I only came here reluctantly and hesitantly. Unsure whether I could manage the details and more than a little frightened of the permanence and exposure of having what I write available for others to see.

I owe my beloved friend Starr for the final little push into blogging. She is an inspiration in lots of ways. Thank you Starr. Just to get started I will keep this post short but hope to give a brief history of myself and my family and then to move on to keeping a record of my journey with my son, Elliot, who is teaching me so much about life and love. Until then... K xx
